It sure is a pleasure for me to listen again. Misty Blue - track 4 is the short version, track 6 extended. The other tracks have Charles talking out the chords and stuff, but even then Gay is consistent thru all those takes and just living in it for the last one. Loving You Is All I Crave is a song Charles does a lot; great to hear it song by a woman - mmm baby All this singing has Charles fired up so he brings out 2 new covers - both have a walkthru first. If you want to learn either of these, he explains it all. Hold On I'm Coming - sounds like Charles is singing in 2 voices (Sam & Dave), and considering the stress he puts into the voices, you wonder what his vocal chords must look like. Gigantic I reckon; compared to my thin reeds and mangy monotone speech. The last song - I've Been Loving You Too Long - one of the Otis Redding songs Charles does so well. The first 2 minutes Charles is doing a voice over for the chords, while he singsl The last minute is pure Charles, pure soul. Hope both of these come up again on the setlist. Also played that night but not recorded: Let's Get Together (from Canned Heat) and Can't Get Next to You (The Temps?). Going thru my notes, I discovered that I am missing the tape for the previous session on 6-10-93. Notes say it was Matt & RC, and Baker. So that's 2 drummers plus some lady named Yvette who sang Hit the Road Jack, Rapture, and God Bless the Child. Too bad the tape is gone because that may have been as good as this one with Gay.
